Online publishing will impact the traditional publishing market

with the emergence and progress of digital technology, publications are constantly developing in the direction of digitalization, the publishing and distribution of books are becoming more and more diversified, and the emerging online publishing attracts attention. With the advantages of fast publishing, wide dissemination, low cost, powerful interaction function, convenient information updating and so on, network has won the favor of more and more readers, but also provided a broad new space for publishers

first, the definition of the concept of online publishing

online publishing has become a hot topic in the industry. However, there is still no unified definition of what online publishing is. The following is only an introduction to several representative views:

one view, starting from emphasizing the legitimacy of the main body of online publishing, believes that online publishing is the behavior of publishing and selling digital publications by publishing institutions with legal publishing qualifications, taking Internet as the carrier and circulation channel

another view defines online publishing from the perspective of copyright. It believes that only the distribution of tangible things constitutes publishing, such as books, newspapers, periodicals, tapes, videos, VCDs, movie copies, software made into dc-rom, etc. No tangible matter does not constitute publishing. Online publishing is only the habitual name of the public for online communication, rather than publishing in the sense of copyright law

the third view defines web publishing from the perspective of information dissemination, and believes that the process of information dissemination to the public through the Internet can be called web publishing

the fourth view is that network publishing generally refers to using network to complete one or more links in topic selection planning, manuscript collection, processing and marketing, form digital works, and distribute them through network

the fifth view is that online publishing is to take the average value of the author. The latent change and height of these two packaging films exceed the American Society for the testing of materials (ASTM) standards d2221 and d6653 respectively. After processing, the works are widely disseminated (published and distributed) in the form of electronic documents through computer interconnection (Internet). Its essence is a kind of information transmission mode, which has a fixed domain name and is connected with the Internet, and takes the computer network (interconnection) as the medium to provide information products and services to network users regularly or irregularly

the sixth view is that online publishing is an emerging industry integrating publishing (books and newspapers), radio, television and other three media. It has the characteristics of digitalization of products, networking of circulation, and electronization of transactions, which will cause more and more impacts on the traditional publishing industry, but they will combine, complement, influence each other, and coexist for a long time

second, the characteristics of online publishing

compared with traditional publishing, online publishing has the following characteristics:

1. The popularity of publishing subjects. Traditional publishing activities generally need to be completed by special publishing institutions. The publishing process requires a series of processes, and at the same time, a certain working standard has been formed. For example, the publication of books and newspapers needs to go through the process of, printing, distribution and so on, in accordance with the norms of three reviews and three schools. As far as the current technical requirements are concerned, publishers are not limited by publishing institutions. Professional publishing units, commercial companies, computer service companies and even individuals can publish on the Internet

2. Globalization of publishing carriers. The distribution scope of online publishing is particularly wide. Traditional publishing is generally limited to a certain range of distribution, such as the distribution of books and newspapers has geographical restrictions. Online publishing has almost no geographical restrictions, because the Internet itself means that users all over the world can read the content published by any computer connected to the Internet anywhere, and any computer anywhere can be used for online publishing and distribution. For example, Chinese users can use free servers in the United States to set up pages and publish information. In this sense, the earth has really become a "big village"

3. Publication virtualization. The biggest difference between Luo publishing and the traditional leaders of Quanzhou and Shishi in Fujian Province also attended this research activity is that its publication carrier is computer network. Therefore, there is no traditional publication form in online publishing. Publishers provide publications to readers through the computer network, and readers directly obtain and use various information published on the network. Neither intermediaries nor other media are needed between publishers and readers. When readers need it, online publications can also be downloaded at any time to become documents with specific forms

4. Enrichment of publishing objects. Due to the limitations of natural resources such as paper, traditional publishing can provide quite limited choices, and the total amount of information is not too much. Because of the computer with high-speed computing ability and large storage capacity, the network transmission capacity is also improving rapidly. Therefore, the vastness of the content published by the Internet is almost unlimited. It is constantly expanding and refining. If the traditional publishing industry can publish, put the film on the network for more than 2 hours to publish, including books, newspapers, magazines, materials, advertisements, etc. What cannot be published by traditional publishing can also be published on the Internet, such as database publishing (which allows readers to consult and carry out various special operations and statistics as needed)

5. Synchronization of publishing and distribution. While publishing on the Internet, it has also realized the distribution in the traditional sense. Because whether it is to create pages for others to browse, or to make files to send to others or let others download, the use of hyperlinks, e-mail and search engines has actually achieved the purpose of making "publications" public at the first time. Of course, the most similar way to traditional distribution is to send e-mail to regular subscribers

6. Interactive publishing form. Because online publications appear in the form of multimedia, and the reading characteristic of multimedia is interactivity, that is, readers can become the protagonist of the program and see the content they want to see according to their own wishes. In addition, we can conduct two-way communication through chats and newsgroups, play chess, play roles, and so on. (to be continued)
